Here are the results from the 'Boys v. Girls' Competition which was cancelled in December owing to the weather conditions. A competition for fun but with a 'spiky' edge!

Results, when the 'Boys' won, came as a bit of a shock for the 'Girls' who'd won in the previous comeptitions. It was a very close call, though, with the 'Boys scoring 325 points and the 'Girls' 324 points.
Our judge was Diane Owen, of Chorley PS, who had been kind enough to forward the scores to us when the competition was cancelled.

The images gaining the highest scores are shown here:

Bill Nairn .......... Cloudman (20)
Sue Heaton .......... Common Blue (20) and Forces' Sweetheart (20)

Once again SLIC took an entry to North Cheshire PS to enter their 'Knockout Challenge', held during their Exhibition week. Always a popular competition, 30 clubs from around the region, and as far away as Sheffield and Keswick, entered. The judge was Mike NcNamee, BSc FRPS FBPPA.

In the competition, the pictures 'knocked out' in the first round scored 1 point, in the second round 2, and so on. Each club entered 5 images so there were 150 in total. There were just 16 pictures left to go into the 4th round and fight it out for the honours!

In the final results, SLIC came joint 9th with Atherton & District PS. The winning club was Wigan 10 Foto Club followed by Hoylake PS in second place. The winning image of the night was 'Cheetah Kill' by Austin Thomas, a member of Wigan 10.

In the competition SLIC lost 2 pictures in the second round and 3 in the third. SLIC's entry was:

May
2011

On May 24th SLIC had an entry in the Ted Colman Memorial Competition at Rochdale & District CC. 14 clubs took part. It was judged by Colin Douglas from St Helens.
This is a competition with a bit of a twist! There are 3 rounds + a 'head to head' finish. From a 'Bank' of 13 images, each club puts 4 images into the 1st round. At the end of that round, the lower scoring clubs are eliminated. The scores are 'wiped clean' as the remaining clubs go into the 2nd round, at the end of which the lower scoring clubs are again eliminated leaving just 8 clubs to go into the 3rd and final round. At the end of this round the 2 clubs with the highest scores will each project 1 last image and the winner of this 'head to head' is the winning club.

Field the entries in the wrong order, and you go out in the first round, even if you have a stunning collection of images still in the 'Bank'!

It results in a competition that keeps you involved up to the last minute and was great fun! (We didn't win, but we did go into the third round of clubs). Congratulations to Huddersfield Photo-Imaging Club finally took the trophy.

Here is our entry:

Round 1
Borage#3 by Norman Piper
