In February SLIC put an entry into the North Cheshire PS competitions during their Annual Exhbition. Wednesday was the Digital Print Competition and Thursday was the Challenge Trophy, a knockout competition for digitally projected images. SLIC's
print entry was: In the print competition SLIC came joint 15th, out of 23 clubs, with 83 points. SLIC's
dpi entry was: In the dpi competition SLIC came joint 8th out of 29 clubs. |

Congratulations to Norman Piper whose monochrome print, Winter, was selected as part of the PAGB entry into the recent FIAP Biennial, hosted in Slovakia. | February 2009 |
The Ted Colman Memorial Digital Competition took place at Rochdale & District CC on Tuesday 24th. It was originally planned for early February but snow and ice forced a postponement. Colin Douglas from St Helens was the judge. Fourteen clubs took part. Each club needed eight images. The first seven were marked out of 20 and then the points totalled. The eighth image was held in reserve for use in the event of a tie-break. SLIC was in second place at the interval but by the end of the competition crept into the lead and took the trophy. SLIC

Boat (20+2) which also received the 2 bonus points for the 'judges
choice of best', Teapot (20) and Life in the Freezer (19),
by EB Swarbrick. EB
Swarbrick had the highest aggregate score of the best 3 prints with a
score of 61. Digitally

SLIC once again took part in the Martin Avery Digital Print Competition which, this year, 18th November, was hosted by Southport PS. Five clubs took part: SLIC, Southport PS, St. Helen's CC, North Cheshire PS, South Liverpool PS and South Manchester. The judge was Chris Widdall from Oldham. Disappointingly, for us, SLIC came joint 5th with South Manchester CC. The best print of the evening was Crosby Sands by Martin Mailies. SLIC's entry was: Mauree
