SLIC
was formerly known as South Lancashire Imaging Club but, at its
AGM in 2003, it was decided to abbreviate this to SLIC, purely
for the convenience of the simpler term. SLIC
is a member of the L&CPU and functions within Federation guidelines.
The club came into being in the summer of 2000, as a result of a group
of photographers wishing to work a little more freely than was, at that
time, acceptable in federation clubs. We wanted to make images that reflected
the abstract as well as reality and to be free to experiment with different
approaches to making pictures.
At the moment most of our members produce their prints via an inkjet printer
but there is absolutely no requirement to do so. Similarly, image capture
comes via a variety of means.

Many of our
members belong to other Photographic clubs and societies with no apparent
conflict of interest.
Our monthly programme is a mix of visiting speakers, competitions and
contributions from our own members. We like to feel that we can offer
something of interest and a warm welcome to any prospective new members.
Why not come along to one of our meetings and get to know us. Visitors
are charged £3 on the door and can attend any 2 meetings, in a year,
before deciding whether or not to join SLIC.
The annual subscription is £12 plus £2 on the door at each
meeting you attend.
SLIC meetings are held at the Elton Liberal Club, New George Street,
Elton, Bury, on the first Sunday of every month, from 2pm until 5pm. Click
HERE for directions.
